3. "Kitchen renovation. We started this journey last summer when I walked into the KDP showroom off the street having reviewed only the website and prior testimonials for background... I hadn't heard about KDP or known anybody that used them and we absolutely couldn't be happier with our kitchen. Even though I had interviewed several other designers, I knew right away that Kelly was the right fit for us... Kelly came up with an innovative design that allowed us to have a large banquette seating area in the kitchen as part of the floor to ceiling "island" between the kitchen and the dining room. Every corner of our kitchen is maximized for storage capability. We renovated more than just the kitchen...We did the family room and dining room as well... Kelly guided us through every stage of our renovation... Choosing all the new was an overwhelming and time consuming task for someone working full time with two small children. Kelly went way beyond what I would have expected her to have done.. Kelly patiently dealt with my sometimes multiple daily emails with questions about the details and design advice on pretty much everything we bought. Every material, colour, fixture, piece of furniture, style and idea was run by Kelly. I know she was straight up honest with me at all times. I completely trusted her judgment. This was a big project. We took out walls and needed a structural engineer which was organized by KDP... The demolition phase took place over two weeks while we were out of town (highly recommended that you leave during this part)... Every one of the trades that worked on our house did superb work, was reliable, answered my many questions and was considerate and tidied up behind themselves... I would recommend every single one of them and will use them again when I have the opportunity... The result is incredible. Our primary contact at KDP was with Kelly but I know there were others in the background like Joe who was the mastermind behind the scheduling who also deserves our sincere thanks... Our main floor looks awesome. It is like having a new home. The rooms look bigger; the ceilings look higher, the textures and colours flow and the space has a whole different feeling. The cabinetry, crown moulding, countertops and backsplash are elegant ... gorgeous. In practical terms, the layout, functionality and storage in the kitchen are fantastic. We finally have the spacious feeling we were going for in our 35 year old southeast Oakville home. KDP and especially Kelly delivered on exactly what they promised and in fact the end result exceeded our expectations...If I were to rate KDP and Kelly under any rating system there is no question that the rating would be a 10. 36. "Outstanding Kitchen Renovation. Initially we were overwhelmed by the number of vendors in the business of doing kitchen renovations. However we found KDP though this 'Homestars' website when we started to look at reviews of some of the vendors. This is when KDP caught our eye, as they were a featured company that had many high reviews. Based on this discovery, we decided to give them a try and we have certainly not been disappointed. Whereas most other vendors did minimal design and simply tried to sell us cabinets, John personally came to our house and suggested an alternative layout to our kitchen that was unconventional but ultimately very rewarding. Sherry next stepped in and helped us with many of the details of the design. The strength of a renovation job ultimately lies in the quality of tradesmen who work on your project. KDP sent us outstanding people. Marcello was the general contractor in charge of preparing the kitchen shell. He and his entire crew were outstanding; they were always very polite to us, listened to all our questions, always gave us full explanations of what was happening, and accommodated some on-the-fly changes that we requested. Beyond a kitchen renovation, I would recommend him and his team to anyone considering any sort of renovation. Steve came in next to install our beautiful Beckerman cabinets. He showed himself to be a top quality craftsman who took great care and did an outstanding job of installing the cabinets. I still marvel over the precision of his mitre cuts for all the moulding and baseboards. We had [another company] counters installed and this was the only frustration point on the project. The people from [another company] were unreliable in keeping appointments, didn't seem to know how to detail our attached kitchen table (thank goodness Steve was on-hand to take change), and although we had left very specific instructions regarding an island overhang, they cut it wrong. On top of that they also were late with delivery which caused the only significant delay on the project. We certainly cannot blame KDP for this, as we had specifically requested [another company] and the countertops where outside of KDP control. I would certainly caution anyone to be very careful dealing with [another company] in the future. Sherry was the overall designer on the project and we found it a pleasure to work with her. She always took time to hear our concerns or questions and always worked hard to resolve them very quickly. Everyone that has seen the new kichen has commented on his beautiful workmanship. Also, Junior did a great job dealing with the challenges of working with a finished basement to install new taps and drains - in the end, with the help of Ralston's great patchwork, we can't even tell that anything was altered. Junior was also very kind to work late one evening to replace the pipe for the ice maker on the new freezer that wasn't working properly. We were also very impressed with how carefully everyone worked - we did not replace the existing flooring, but nothing was damaged, not even a scratch. Finally, Uli and her team took care to deal with the whole project - where things arose that weren't anticipated, they were handled - for example we changed our venting and Les removed the old unnecssary vent and then repaired the brick wall on our deck; and Uli has given me suggestions re new furniture to compliment the new kitchen. Overall, the professionalism with wich Uli and her team at KDP did this project is to be commended and we would happily refer anyone considering a renovation to them!

Well let me say that Kitchen Designers Plus in Oakville delivered on all counts! Especially impressive was Kelly who worked as our design consultant and liaison with Joe our work-team manager. It was Kelly's obvious expert design flair and friendly professionalism that initially made a difference for us when choosing KD-Plus over the competition. Lots of outfits can produce a good kitchen, but having confidence in the team and a good working relationship are essential - especially when having to deal with glitches and issues that inevitably arise in any kitchen renovation. I must say that Kelly was always quick to respond to any concerns we had and she did so always trying to accommodate to our needs. Not once did we feel we were in some kind of unpleasant adversarial situation. We always felt Kelly was on our side. For this, we are extremely grateful. In the end our kitchen looks fabulous, even better than the computer mock-ups provided to us early in the design phase of the project. I might add that because of Kelly's connections to local retailers and product manufacturers, we were also able to get a couple of good deals reducing our costs. Kelly's positive working relationship with one particular retailer no doubt played an important role in getting us a "hassle-free" response when requesting, beyond a policy stipulated return date, a new oven vent which came delivered with a dent. 121. "Full Kitchen Renovation. We were very apprehensive when we decided to complete a large transformation to our our kitchen and family room (which included taking down support walls). We had heard so many stories of bad experiences, long delays and poor construction and were therefore very skeptical. In starting our review of potential firms we were less concerned with quality of product (as we know that there are many great kitchen products/lines on the market) than we were with finding a focused, enthusiastic designer, with strong organizational skills and a deep team to back him/her up. To be honest, we almost discounted Kitchen Designers Plus, when (during our first phone call) Kelly Boettcher mentioned that she would not need to come to our home before coming up with the plan. Lucky for us, we continued and booked our first meeting. Kelly made such a strong impression during that first meeting. She exuded confidence and spoke with such enthusiasm for our renovation. We were not disappointed with her overall design, which was hands down better than the others we received from competitors - with a fantastic layout, extra cabinets for storage, nice flow and an overall beautiful presentation. The project started slow as we winded our way through the process with the structural engineer (Dave, recommended by Kitchen Designers Plus, is a gem), and then the city license. Once this was completed, Kelly moved very quickly into the construction side of the project. We can't say enough about the organization of the daily activities. Not one day was wasted in our 6 week project. Any issues that arose were resolved that same day by Kelly and the team. Every minor detail was considered by Joe and the team at Kitchen Designers Plus. With all of the different team members to organize (we counted over 15 experts) we can only imagine the logistical nightmare, but were so glad to have Kelly and Joe handle all. (If you have ever had to hire someone to replace your carpets OR to fix your toilet you will know exactly what I mean when I say that I can't imagine organizing the schedule for 15 people.) Lastly, I can't say enough about Kelly's daily feedback on the progress, her suggestions for functional improvements, and her positive attitude. She never once said "it can't be done". Six weeks without a kitchen sink and stove is not easy, but with Kelly managing the project, we really felt that she understood the need to meet the schedule (which they did) yet provide us the best possible renovation for our money. Having heard many horror stories about home renovations, we came to Kitchen Designers Plus on the recommendation of a very satisfied client. When we first met Kelly Boettcher we knew only what we didn't want, and that we had a very awkward corner over some stairs, which made the cupboards above it inaccessible unless you stood on the counter. Kelly listened, got to know us, and designed a kitchen which she thought would meet our needs. We are thrilled with the result, a beautiful, accessible new kitchen. Before work began Joe worked out a schedule, emphasizing that unforeseen problems could delay the work. However, the work was done almost exactly on schedule. The one delay was of only two days, and was totally unavoidable. The trades people were very skilled, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. At all times communication with KDP was excellent. Throughout the project Kelly visited frequently, kept us informed, and Joe even called on her day off. Kelly replied immediately to all of our emails, and usually had already addressed what we thought was going to be an issue. With every major project there are small problems which become apparent only after the work is officially completed and paid for. With other companies we found that they were in no hurry to return, and that repeated phone calls over months were necessary. Happily, Kitchen Designers Plus was again the exception. Kelly's enthusiasm and confidence made me trust Kelly with all aspects of the design plan. On a number of occasions, when I was uncertain with an aspect of the design or unable to make a decision, I was able to rely on Kelly to lead me in the right direction to help me make a decision that I would be happy with. From the execution perspective, the team was professional, prompt and efficient. What impressed me most was the willingness of all the trades involved to return on numerous occasions to ensure that everything was done to our satisfaction. A special thanks to Joe for coordinating everything, it was seamless and I was kept well informed of what was going on. With a small child, I was very concerned about the time line, but all went as planned and our kitchen was done on time. My only possible complaint would be with respect to our choice to use our own general contractor for certain aspects of the job. We were warned at KD Plus that this can result in logistical difficulties. A close family friend is a highly qualified general contractor and we had him review the contract with us. Overall, he thought the contract was very reasonable - but he saw a few areas where he thought we'd be able to have the work performed at a lower cost. Accordingly, we used his contacts for these services and our observation was that KDP wasn't as forthcoming with information and perhaps as helpful as they could have been or would have been with their own team. If we were to do it again, we wouldn't have minded paying a bit extra for a hassle-free construction period - using KDP for the entire project makes sense. Every morning I walk into our kitchen and think about how much I love it. There isn't one thing that I would change. Thanks Kelly and KD Plus for my dream kitchen!"

126. "Kitchen Renovation. Working with Kelly and Kitchen Designers Plus was an extraordinary experience both from a personal and professional standpoint. Kelly was very easy to work with, very well trained, never pushy, always patient, lots of suggestions and alternatives, working easily within the dynamics of my wife and I in choosing the perfect kitchen - at least to us. Kelly's professionalism and the professionalism of the trades people that worked in our kitchen defied all the "horror stories" we were told to expect. They showed up on time, they all did exceptional jobs, and always left the house very neat and tidy. Everything was well organized, planned out in detail, and agreed to well in advance - from the dumpster, to the materials, to scheduling the various trades people - and it all went like clock-work. Well, you did not do it in 6 weeks, after 5 and a half weeks we could move back into the kitchen - excellent! There were neither cost overruns nor unplanned expenses; you kept to the agreed to budget - excellent! Even little picky things like moving a ceiling lighting fixture about 7 or 8 inches, or coming back to install dimmer switches - no problem. KDP renovated the kitchen of our previous home several years ago, and to renovate the kitchen in our current home we once again went with KDP, largely because of the professionalism, design flair, and obvious expertise of Kelly in the Oakville office. Kelly made a great first impression. Her ability to listen, design ideas, and self confidence surpassed that of designers we met at two of KDP's competitors. She offered excellent design alternatives we would never have thought of ourselves. Kelly proved very easy to work with. She was accessible throughout the project and replied almost immediately to emails. She was on-site for the beginning of each new phase of the job, and any concerns we had were patiently dealt with. She has a wonderfully positive attitude and was always able to reassure us; never once did we hear "oh, we can't do that" or "that won't work." The trades were uniformly professional and all work was carried out exactly on schedule. We were amazed at the cleanliness of the worksite at the end of each day. As with all jobs of this size, several minor things had to be corrected after the main job was complete. But with Kelly and KDP it's not a case of repeated phone calls and unanswered messages. She dealt with the issues promptly and courteously, and everything was corrected as promised. The only glitch (which is no fault of Kelly's) has been a colour mismatch of a cabinet door. The original door was scratched and the cabinet company has sent two replacement doors but neither door has matched the colour of the remaining cabinetry. This remains to be rectified, but we have every confidence that Kelly and KDP will make it right. If you are hesitant to renovate your kitchen after watching TV programs featuring nightmare renovation jobs, you needn't worry if you sign on with KDP. Our kitchen odyssey began back in late 2010 when my husband and I decided to replace our original "builder installed" 20 year old kitchen that had clearly seen better days. Over the previous summer, I had visited and interviewed kitchen designers from one end of the GTA to the other and talked to people about their own renovation experiences, before finally settling on Kitchen Designers Plus (KDP) this past October. I felt comfortable with my decision since it was based on their excellent website, customer feedback and the ease at which our designer, Stephanie Downes, could interpret my layman "wants and wishes" into something concrete and realistic (and affordable!). Over the next few weeks, Stephanie, my husband and I planned the new kitchen. With the exception of the walls, everything else was to be replaced. Stephanie led us through the selection process - appliances... faucets and sinks... .the granite countertop... flooring and backsplashes... cupboards and styles... lighting and plumbing. It could have been overwhelming but instead Stephanie made it fun. She even accompanied us on her days off to help us during the selection process and ensured the choices fit within the overall scheme of the kitchen and within our budget. Demolition was a breeze and installation began to bear fruit from the months of planning: the flooring is awesome, the granite counters breathtaking, the cabinetry is amazing. Stephanie incorporated several lighting options, which meant we could alternate between soft to bright lighting: awesome! Of course no renovation is without some problems and ours was no exception: a sloped ceiling, a too-wide wine cabinet, a furnace vent relocation - but the finished product is more than we hoped or dreamed: a kitchen transformed from a 1990's "melamine special" into one that we're proud of. With many, many thanks to Stephanie - for her patience (especially), her humour and her guidance through what was a new and uncharted process for us. No regrets (and wish we'd done it sooner)."

Renovating a kitchen can be terrifying for some and exciting for others - my husband and I fit into the 'exciting' category and we knew when we met Kelly that she was a perfect 'designer' match for us! 151. "Kitchen and Powder Room Renovation. John Vanderkolk from the Mississauga office was our project manager. To start, John gave us some very specific design suggestions that we initially resisted. Once John explained his thinking, he won us over and a year later, we are extremely satisfied with the layout changes he recommended. In terms of the budget, we received other quotes. As John outlined in the quote, they use high quality products and suppliers - you don't have to constantly be "upgrading" everything. By contrast, our experience with another supplier during the quote phase was that they automatically assumed we wanted the cheapest of everything so all of the features we wanted would be upgrades. With John's quote, we felt confident we were getting a high quality kitchen and bathroom, without the constant "nickle and dime-ing" over every upgraded feature once the job started. During the job, John's consistent and clear communication really exceeded my expectations. Once the job began, he laid out a timeline of the different phases and kept us up to date with a quick phone call every day or as needed. Just a few minutes each day was enough for us to give him feedback on the work from the previous day and ensure that we were ready for the next steps. Not surprisingly, there were a few hiccups in the job - table not the right size and wrong tile on the back splash. John handled these events with calm and patience, reassuring us that it was his priority to ensure we got what we wanted. Although each of these events could have turned into mini disasters, the way that John handled them turned them into positives - again, his support and drive exceeded our expectations. The job was done on time and on budget. We love our new kitchen and powder room and look forward to using Kitchen Designers Plus for our next project!"

We wanted to get our original 1970s style kitchen into the new century, and after meeting with several companies, decided on Kitchen Designers Plus, and their Oakville location. We based this on face to face meetings, along with other reviews we read, and an overall sense we got from meeting with Kelly. Kelly walked us through all the design options, from overall look/design, options for cupboards, backsplash, lighting, floor, countertop, electrics and all the extras available. No pressure tactics used, we were presented with the options and made the decisions on a step by step basis, using Kelly's design expertise to assist. The install started on the day it was scheduled, and work was completed on schedule, no delays, and no budget over run. We were impressed with that, having had others tell us of renovation horror stories! We were provided updates by Kelly and project manager Joe on a regular basis, and felt comfortable in discussing any issues or concerns we had with them. At the final review, we did notice a cracked tile in the backsplash, somewhat hidden, but as we did see it, the team took the time to remove the tile, take a new tile offsite to drill and replaced it (glass tiles can be tricky when drilling). 160. "Kitchen Design and Installation. Our kitchen was approximately 20 years old and needed updating. We visited a number of kitchen companies, but decided on Kitchen Designers Plus because of the cooperation and "no pressure" sales tactics offered by John. In addition, John worked very closely with us to ensure all our ideas were incorporated into the final design. John's innovative thinking was also appreciated. The concept design pictures were extremely beneficial in helping us envision the final outcome. The reno's including gutting the complete kitchen, including removal of bulkheads, flooring throughout the kitchen and hallway and construction of a new wall to make the new kitchen more functional. The crew took exceptional care in protecting other parts of the house from dust and debris during the demolition process. In terms of installation, Gino and his crew did a fantastic job installing approximately 800 ft2 of travertine tile. Their workmanship ranks extremely high versus other tile jobs I have seen or been involved with. Needless to say the final product looks superb. Paul, Bruce, and Frank did a great job installing the Norcraft custom maple cabinetry and custom crown molding. They all took great care with the installation and each of them had very high expectations of the workmanship and final installation. Lam and his crew did an exceptional job cutting and installing the granite counters. They also did a great job ensuring the fit was to perfection in all areas. Last but not least we would also like to recognize Rob who executed all of the electrical work. He did an exceptional job coordinating all the electrical work around the other trades including 2 new cable runs (50 amp service) from the panel through a finished basement with drywall ceilings. Rob was also very in tune with our needs and adjusted the positioning of new lighting fixtures to satisfy our needs. We are extremely pleased and excited about our new kitchen! We would recommend Kitchen Designers Plus to anyone considering a new kitchen or a renovation of a kitchen. Excellent design and excellent finished product. 161. "Kitchen Renovation. While we have a fabulous family home and phenomenal neighbours, I was relentless in moving. I felt our 20 year old home was dated and beyond a makeover. My husband suggested having a kitchen/bathroom/floor make over, worst case scenario, it would only add value to our home. We sourced 3 kitchen design companies, and I have to say, that from the 24 hour turnaround time, to the vision of the renovation, to the execution and delivery, Kitchen Designers Plus, clearly rose above all others. John Vanderkolk was in touch with me within 12 hours of sending the email, he was at our home within 24 hours, and the vision I had in mind was electronically produced within one week. I told John what was important to me, and he encapsulated every last detail. In fact, he had ideas, that I had not even thought about. John, not only designed the kitchen, but he assisted us with interior designs that matched our home, from picking floor tiles and backsplashes, assisting is with picking complimentary granite and of course the lighting. What I didn't mention already, is that we had six weeks to execute the project. From conception to design to visitors coming from abroad, we had a zero margin for any problems, and of course, during any reno of this scale, there are problems. I have to say though John handled every obstacle with professionalism and solvency, even two weeks into our project, when I had a brain storm idea to knock out a wall!! It happened! Pat Noddle was the designer we worked with at Kitchen Designers Plus and her professionalism won the bid. She was always the most prepared for our meetings and came up with many creative solutions for our challenges. We worked through multiple drafts of the design and settled on a project plan. However once the job started unexpected issues crop up as the always do when renovating an older house and Pat was always there to help with a design idea to solve the challenge. The cabinets are beautiful and the installation by their installer Johnny was incredible. He is a master carpenter and the care he puts into each mitre cut is amazing. 168. "Kitchen Renovation. After lots of research online we decided to meet with John from Kitchen Designers Plus after looking at their site and reading the many recommendations. We were wary about some of the glowing testimonials, knowing that renovations never go as smoothly as you hope or you hear. We went into our first meeting with John with pictures from magazines and other sites thinking that we 100% knew what we wanted. John was able to take our vision, with his experience and product knowledge and give us 3D drawings of what the finish product could look like. We were blown away and completely hooked. John was able to fit in our small condo kitchen renovation into the schedule quickly which was great and beyond our expectations. He gave us a timeline of 6 weeks total from start to finish and secretly Steve and I planned for the job to take 8 to 12 weeks based on past personal experience and the experiences of friends. We wanted to be realistic and not set ourselves up for disappointment. The job started on time, with John, Paul and Bruce working with us and Habitat for Humanity to ensure that all removed material could be donated to Habitat for Humanity. This was absolutely above and beyond as we were adimate that we wanted our old kitchen, still in very new good condition to be recycled. We've all heard and seen many horror stories about contractors leaving huge messes, material all over the place, sometimes dangerous wires exposed and an overall lack of respect for the home owners space. I have to say that Paul and Bruce were far from this. Each day Steve and I arrived home to a clean, tidied and organized home. Because we live in a 1,300 sqft condo, this is hard to do and obviously was a priority for the duo. Freshly swepted and washed floors, materials disposed, equipment put away, it was amazing and great to see. Living in a small space undergoing a large renovation is scary, but Paul and Bruce made this a great experience and allowed us to keep our focus and excitement on the daily changes to the space and how great the finish product was going to look. Claudio then came in and worked his magic on all the new lighting, moving all the electrical that needed to be moved from the wall that was removed and was able to get everything done quickly and on time. John, our designer/contractor, was in daily contact with us, addressing the many questions, concerns and throughts. He was never out of reach and really ensured that we received outstanding customer service. It's hard to believe that our 6 week kitchen renovation actually took less then 6 weeks. We were able enjoy our very first home cooked meal in our finished, new kitchen before the end of the 6th week. From start to finish, our experince with John, Bruce, Paul, Claudio and the rest of the Kitchen Designers Plus staff was industry leading and beyond our expecations. Although this was not the least expensive option, the end product is outstanding and we couldn't be happier. We would highly recommend Kitchen Designers Plus to friends and family."
